“Wasted” is yet another iteration of the white boy swag movement. Initiated way back in the olden days of 2007 with Shop Boyz’ “Party Like a Rockstar,” the concept in rap songs of white dudes as surfers who often like to get drunk is a popular one—pretty much to the point of oversaturation. But Gucci and OJ rapping about getting wasted and smoking weed over tense strings is enough of an update to make it work.
