Spin Magazine Names Its Favorite FADER Magazine Covers

August 05, 2009

Our comrade in paper, Spin Magazine, recently posted its 20 favorite albums of 2009 so far, and lo and behold, it includes exactly six bands or artists who received their first US magazine covers by yours truly, The FADER (maybe seven, we're not sure about Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and a bunch of others we've talked about between the covers. Though we take things like this as a compliment to our impeccable taste and infinite wisdom, it does make us wonder why most other magazines (*cough* Spin *cough*) have still not put these artists on their covers. We may never know the answer, but we can assure them, and you, that we have many more firsts on the way, including our next issue. In order, Spin's favorite FADER-cover-approved albums are: Mos Def, The Ecstatic (FADER #3, Spring 2000); Animal Collective, Merriweather Post Pavilion (FADER #33, October/November 2005; Mavado, Mr. Brooks… A Better Tomorrow (FADER #42 December 2006); Blk Jks, Mystery (FADER #52 March 2008); Bat For Lashes Two Suns (FADER #60 March/April 2009); Phoenix, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (FADER #62 July/August 2009) [and just in case: Yeah Yeah Yeahs, It's Blitz! (FADER #16 May/June 2003)].
