The Nine Eyes of Google
- story Peter Macia
Just up on Art Fag City’s IMG MGMT series is artist Jon Rafman’s essay on Google Street View, which, to be honest, is impressive both for its eloquence and diligence and its ability to make us spend seven straight hours “walking” the streets looking for image to print out and put up on the wall (we’re poor). Rafman previously appeared on AFC for his Kool-Aid Man in Second Life, a short film that at moments reminds one of Bergman’s Wild Strawberries, or at least juice. It’s awesome, as is The Nine Eyes of Google Street View, in which Rafman collects images from Street View blogs and his own searching to discuss the potential artistic direction of the omniscient service and the moral dilemnas it presents.
