Earlier this week we got a copy of revered Radio 1 DJ Mary Anne Hobbs’ Wild Angels—the third installment of her groundbreaking bass mixes for Planet Mu—and it sent us flailing into the deep spaces of our minds with its experimental beat gutting. To preview its release on September 7, Scottish art collective LuckyMe threaded together the tracks and directed a gorgeous video of impressionist warp speeds, gauzy surreal landscapes and some almost-scary face paint. The compilation is great, with tracks by the likes of Gemmy, Mono/Poly and Nosaj Thing, but as a work of art and a non-linear short film, these wild angels stand on their own.
