I am frothing at the mouth, titillated, jazzed, inTOXicated by the list of acts you’ve got there. I love it. And I want to go so badly, with my lovely girlfriend.

in order to win free tickets from another contest (www.TinyURL.com/governator666), I considered writing a letter to Governor Schwarzenegger (ha-ha) regaling fond memories of time spent in Californy’s state parks and how terrible it is that he’s axed their budget so. But I would have been lying, because I just moved to this state two months ago and have only walked through Plummer Park a couple of times. And those times, I can only remember seeing about twenty pairs of old Russian Jews playing chess and trying to avoid being followed by a woman with with a dingy burlap sack and a creaking, stray Trader Joe’s shopping cart.

But damn, do I love parks in general. Crazy about the things – every one I’ve ever been to.

Even more than I love parks, though, I love Black Lips, Tim & Eric, Dan Deacon, The Thermals, and all the rest of those fine, fine, fine acts you’ve got lined up for this FYF.

Please – pick me, pick me!

I want VIP tickets for FYF because I’ve never been before, although it’s been a fantasy for me since I couldn’t go last year because I had to go back to the Shitty Midwest to start my senior year in college that same week. My boyfriend, who I left in LA, went to FYF and told me how awesome it was when we talked on the phone, making me feel super bummed out, missing him and feeling cheated out of seeing all those awesome bands and having so much fun in LA, and instead, being trapped finishing school in the Shitty Midwest. If I won the tickets for this year, it would help me fulfill my dream of going with my boyfriend to FYF and seeing all of the amazing bands- so many of which are making LA such a vibrant community for interesting music. If I won, I promise I would take lots of sweet pictures and post them to my blog, in addition to cherishing the memory forever and always. thanks for helping support independent music and california state parks!!

Living in Salt Lake City, this festival is filled with favorites that I rarely if ever get a chance to see. Wavves, No Age, Telepathe, Cold Cave, Mika Miko, Times New Viking, Black Lips… + more? This lineup is lo-fi heaven! I’ll be visiting LA next week from July 2-7. Winning VIP tickets to see these bands would make this trip so memorable.

I’m not gonna lie and tell you that I’m dying or it’s my grandma’s 100th birthday. For one it’s not true. And two, who’s grandma listens to Wavves?

Here it is:
I’m only seventeen, and when Wavves, No Age, Times New Viking, Black Lips, Woods, and Crystal Antlers play in LA, it’ll inevitably be a 21+ show. Yeah, maybe No Age plays all-ages at weekend. In my very own backyard.

Adding insult to injury, I do not work a job and cannot shell out the $65 for VIP tickets. It’s even gonna be a stretch to pay for gas (I’m about an hour north of the park). Then again that’s partially my fault. Whatever money I can pull together pretty much is immediately spent on big, black, 7″/12″ analogue music disks.

Then again, that’s why I should go. I love music.

I should win these because i’ve been supporting FYF Fest since it was actually called “F#%K YEAH FEST.”

I still remember going in 2006, when it was at The Echo & the Rec Center in Echo Park. I think this was before the Echoplex was even built.

This is when Sea Level was still open as well. Such good memories.

FYF Fest was pretty amazing last year and I would love to experience all the mosh pitting, crowd surfing, beer drinking, titty flashing, crowd chanting, drunk texting, random makeouts, speaker popping, fuck yeah festing again, but this time in a big ass park.
