My favorite Beatles song is “Hey Jude”. It’s my favorite because to me it represents four things; Peace, Love, Hope and Joy because it was written for a little boy whose parents were going through a divorce, and Paul was trying to make life cheerier for Julian. Did it work? I don’t know but it sure made a lot of other people happier, like me, who was also the same age as Julian when my parents divorced.

I have three favorites as follows:

1) ‘I Am The Walrus’… I believe the epitome of psychedelic rock can be traced to this song. It also contains on of the most amazing string sections on any song that has ever been produced.

2) ‘I Gotta Feeling’… This song is great, especially as it was released on the Let It Be… Naked album a few years ago. An in-concert-live version of this song probably would have been several minutes past just because it swings and begs to just jam incessantly.

3) ‘A Day In The Life’… Seriously, who can think of melodies like this? This song is pure art from the words to how John and Paul trade off vocals to the little vignettes of verses. It is one of their most underrated songs.

“Being for the benifit of mr.kite” always inspires me. It is one of the most complex theatrical songs ive ever had the pleasure to hear. And the fact that it came from a poster lennon had is amazing. The song isnt personal to him it was just a story from his crooked brain. I dont think any one could have done this like he did in ’66. Ahead of it s time and pure artistic creativity at it s finest.

‘Long, Long Long’ from the White Album- it really is a beautiful, beautiful song… It makes me think of an old grandfather clock standing in a hallway opposite a spiral staircase beside a window with a view of some sad, lonely, windswept yet beautiful landscape. I don’t know if this is a dream or if I’ve even been there. Either way, I love songs that conjure images.

My favourite line in the song (lyrically and musically) is: ‘Now I can see you… be you…’- it is so poignant and melancholy- I don’t think I’ve ever listened to that song without crying at some point.

My favorite Beatles song is Baby’s in Black: underestimated through the years, but a sparkling example of Beatles close harmony. ‘Oh how long will it take’… with John on lower voice and Paul on top high notes. Superb and very, very exciting!! After all those years it still impresses me a lot. The Beatles provided QUALITY, no more, no less.

“Blackbird” is my favorite Beatles song, though it is very hard to narrow down! Every single time I listen to it the world seems simpler and full of hope. I love the message that it was originally written for (the 1960s Civil Rights Movement) and the fact that it can be applied to give hope to anyone in any difficult situation. It is the most perfect, beautiful song I have ever heard. Plus it’s on the White Album aka my favorite album ever! I can’t express my love for it enough!

Always a fan of “Paperback Writer”. Growing up, it seemed so different from the rest of their songs because of it’s pace and momentum. Plus, you never heard it on the radio so it seemed mysterious somehow. Throw in that bass and fuzzed guitar and I’m a happy boy.

“Help!” It’s a catchy pop song that’s a desperate cry for help. The guitars, vocal arrangements and drums are all so distinct, yet all fit together perfectly. And I love that bass line that hits you in the gut and pulls you down from what could have been a bubble gum pop high. Was originally written as a slow song but sped up to make it more commercial. Would have been interesting to hear what Lennon originally intended.

“While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” This song encompasses so many aspects of not only the Beatles, but of the time. It’s Georges masterpiece for two reasons, it exemplifies everything that is great about the Beatles, it’s creative, it has a great mealody, it’s catchy, yet it’s melancholy and subdued, and Clapton plays on it (and no body plays on a Beatles song). It’s the un-Beatles, Beatles song.

Obladi Oblada ( life goes on) …because it is just that simple., great hook, and supposedly ..an hommage to reggae ( i think the the Heptones covered it ) but recently Youssou N’dour adapted it with in wolof for a protest song about Senegal’ power outtages
This means, even a dumb song from the Beatles stil make us come together

My favorite used to be “Across the Universe”, but the misses sings “Dear Prudence” as a lullaby to our (now 2 year old) son every night, and duders it knocks the lil’ guy out. My love of sleep really has moved this song up to top position in the Beatles catalogue. Girls cooing Beatles tunage(about Woody Allen’s ex sister-in-law none the less) is always a plus.

We’d sing it to our children in there baths, we played it for them while they slept. Jane was a beautiful soul. The Fool on the Hill is not just a song to me, but it is what optimizes everything that is my love for Jane. My love for her is forever. The words she sang to me were her last words. The best Beatles song is ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ because of the last time they ever played it. In the midst of falling apart, starting to hate Yoko and each other they go to the roof unannounced and play five songs together. For the first time in God knows how long the boys are playing their music and having a GOOD TIME. Watching the rooftop performance you see them laughing, smiling, goofing around, and playing the BEST MUSIC THE WORLD WILL EVER KNOW.

For half an hour the luckiest people on earth got to listen to The Beatles one last time from the street. For half an hour everything stopped. For half an hour everything was OK.

I am the walrus, because it’s my favourite song from my favourite period of theirs. they are just in the studio making amazing songs while combining them with out-there production, with no concern for “how will we play this live?” just a focus on making the best art they could. obviously, all their phases are great, but this is my favourite and this is my favourite song from that period. john is just having fun with words while the song goes psychedelic around him. everyone would still go nuts for the production and backing track if this song was released this year. and rightfully so.

“Because” is an outrageously-amazing piece of music. The colors of the harmonies and lyrics really emanate a sensational feeling inside and make me forget about anything bothering me.

This song truly represents the quality of musicianship the Beatles had. There’s something about John Lennon’s songs that make me just stop everything a get lost in the music. I can completely understand why he will always endure time.

It is, of course, Hey Jude. Because it magically reduces any kind of problem to the size of a pinhead and reminds you, that it is relationships that can make you truly happy. When I was feeling sad, Hey Jude got me up so many times, and I think that so much truth lies within the lines of that beautiful song.
