Designer Hushidar Mortezaie and His Glittering Iranian Ladies
- story Chioma Nnadi
Designer Hushidar Mortezaie of Michael and Hushi fame recently put together an abstract store for Traces of Being, a new exhibit of Iranian art at the Morono Kiang Gallery in LA. For his “chic boutique,” Mortzaie created the ultimate in giftbox art: glorious sequin-encrusted portraits based on his childhood memories in Iran, pieces that are obviously far too precious to unwrap. Mortezaie is currently working on a collaboration with Julie Newmar, the original Catwoman and longtime muse to Thierry Mugler, for what promises to be an homage to the “unstoppable warrior of glamour,” and hopefully a lesson in the art of bodysuits.
