Video: Cold Pumas, “Jela”

December 01, 2009

This performance video for Cold Puma's "Jela" is the complete opposite of those triumphant world stage live videos that Adam Curry used to countdown. It's impossible to posit this next to Eddie Vedder jumping off speakers the size of a small apartment building into an adoring crowd who gobbled him up. Cold Pumas, a UK group with heavy emphasis on structural sounds, take a van to a show, where they play. There's no audience, adoring or otherwise. They work it out just fine, a lot of grunts and hard face squints, but there's no mystery. Maybe this is a PSA to younger bands—for the most part, the glory is your own. It's been awhile since we posted the MP3 for this track, and we're happy to hear it'll have official release as the record record on Hungry For Power, a 20jazzfunkgreats associated label. Cheers, dudes.
