Can someone tell us in the comments what this synth sample reminds us of? We know the actual sample is from Scarface, but there’s another song that sounds just like it that is really awesome. First we thought it was from the Helltrack scene in Rad and then maybe Flashdance, but now who knows, maybe something from Quicksilver or that gymnastics movie with Bart Conner and Mitch Gaylord. Could be anything really. Man, can’t wait for this album.
Download: Lil Wayne, “She’s On Fire”

Amy Holland’s original was on Grand Theft Auto 3. Maybe that’s what you all are thinking of.
I didn’t know either, but felt weirdly embarrassed to be so excited about the first few notes on the synth. And then I remembered being tiny and freaking out on my parents carpet, and then I realized… it was the early eighties, and I was freaking out to the theme song from Fame.
p.s. I think it was Irene Cara? I think that’s right.
….. I thought it was “She Works Hard for the Money” . lol
Cool And Dre sampled Amy Holland’s “She’s On Fire” from the Scarface soundtrack.

Hey, I think I have the real answer. Listen to Castle Walls by Styx from their 1970s album The Grand Illusion. I think Lil Wayne’s She’s On Fire is a note-for-note sample of this song.
Murray is correct, the original tune is from “Castle Walls” by Styx, which I recognized instantly and was like “what the F*CK is this?”…I raged so hard, who takes an awesome prog song and uses a tiny melody from it in a hip hop (let’s not kid ourselves, it’s hip hop) song. anyway, the Styx song was then sampled for the Scarface soundtrack. The Scarface version of the melody was used in the Lil Wayne song, I believe. sad that no one knows where it came from, Styx is far better than lil wayne.
