Most often when we get unsolicited emails from people containing an mp3 and a description that their song is about “trying to fix an unhealthy relationship with MDMA,” we immediately hit the anti-virus button and our typing fingers run straight for the hills. But today’s message from DOM piqued our interest. There were lots of randomly placed Zs and cryptically abbrev’d words so they seemed even extra crazier than your average random emailer, and DOM was dissing our beloved home of Brooklyn (fighting words) because they choose to live in Worcester, Massachusetts (in a yert, apparently). Baby, we put our heads down in Worcester for a good amount of time, too, and we are quite confident no one lives there by choice. Enter “Jesus”: what we expected to be a grating, machine gun blast of white noise with some aggressively tweaking beardo grunting over the top in fact yielded a completely lovely lo-fi pop joint that captures the surreal ecstatic comedown it so abhors. Plus, Stephanie Tanner‘s in the band. DOM, don’t go talkin greazy about Brooklyn heads anymore, but you’re all right by us, man. You’re all right by us.

Jesus by Dom is insainly brilliant. Best new comer I’ve heard in a long time. His way with words and his pop songs leave you wanting more. The music we should all appreciate because he is a genius. I know this is not the last we will hear from him. I’m sure some major label will pick him up one day.
