Video: Matrix Metals, “Flamingo Breeze, Part 4″

There’s a pretty good chance that in a couple years we’ll remember 2009-2010 as the period when it made sense for bands to be called stuff like Breeze Sun Flamingo Beach Train (fake) and Matrix Metals (real). We’ll also remember it as the time when dudes either did a lot of drugs or pretended to do a lot of drugs to help facilitate meandering, hypnotic stoner jams recorded to cassette. Matrix Metals did all these things (maybe not the drugs) for a tape released last year that is being reissued on vinyl through Old English Spelling Bee, and now there’s a video for “Flamingo Breeze, Part 4,” conveniently reminding us of the time we fell asleep for an hour in the sauna and woke up seeing crazy visions. This track has been on rotation in my house for the past week – it’s the best tune off the album/ep, and the video is cool too. It sounds like all those years I spent listening to loops making tunes, only about a billion times better. The tape distortion really adds to the vibe of the piece.
