Seattle’s King Dude bka TJ Cowgill, the man behind Actual Pain, sounds like a really sarcastic band name. Like, “Alright King DUDE, we’ll go where you want to go for dinner.” But his music is so sincere—singing in a distant baritone, he sounds like he lost something really important. Even if he didn’t, it’s convincing enough to spend six bucks on his cassette, which you can find here or in the tape box marked downer folk at your local imaginary record store that totally still exists.
