Based on our experiences with dubstep—and also that one time we were standing outside of Santos Party House with 1.2 million other dudes waiting to see Joker—it's still primarily a masculine genre. Not to say that women aren't feeling it, just that, from what we've seen, ratios have been a little off. As of yesterday (bka Valentines Day bka Chinese New Year), Dirty South Joe and Flufftronix are pushing out a little of the aggression found in dubstep and easing in some warmer vibes with their Luvstep mix featuring a bunch of dudes (and a few ladies) getting sad over seamlessly mixed bass heaviness. It's about as welcome a primer to the poppier direction the music has headed in as we could hope for.
