Schnipper’s Slept On

February 23, 2010

Each Tuesday, FADER editor Matthew Schnipper highlights an underappreciated recent release he thinks we need to know about. This week it’s Kylie Minogue's "Slow" 12-inch single. Watch the video and read Schnipper's thoughts after the jump.

Kylie Minogue is really short and she’s got a boyfriend ten years her junior. She also has a lot of gay fans in America. Don’t know if it’s the same everywhere else. She’s Australian. “Slow” is a pretty gay song.

I read an article about a gay gospel singer. The article says gospel is a pretty gay genre, even if it about a Christian Jesus. All the robes and squealing. Sounds like the audience at a Kylie Minogue concert. Once I thought about pitching a cover story on her but I didn’t because I was embarrassed. Maybe if I was not American or if I was gay.

I have three Kylie Minogue picture discs. It was suggested that I hang them up in my house. I’m too worried about appearances. I wear flannel sometimes, which I was told is kind of a lesbian thing. Do lesbians like Kylie Minogue? “Slow” is a burner.
