Daytrotter doesn’t have the information about who played drums on this Bonnie Prince Billy session, but we’re willing to bet a bunch of our home state quarters that it’s Jim White. The recording here of “81,” from BPB’s Get On Jolly EP has butterfly wing flap drums, light fluttering over Will Oldham’s sad, Southern preacher song. Someone plays a banjo on “Where is the Puzzle.” Someone plays something with a string, too. Probably just sitting around. The way you get peanut butter caught in your beard, Will Oldham gets country instruments stuck in his music. Difference is you throw out the peanut butter and he makes a sandwich.
