Destroyer of the Void (June 8th, Sub Pop) will be Blitzen Trapper's fifth—FIFTH!—album. It's not easy to get that far these days, but these dudes are warriors, racking up new ideas while relentlessly touring and packing them into new EPs and albums about once a year. "Heaven and Earth" is pretty lush and subdued, miles away from the (almost but not quite) g-funk whine of their last full album Furr's "Black River Killer." It's easy to guess what Blitzen Trapper listens to—pretty folk, meaty Southern rock, fried rickety jam bands theatrics—but, for right now at least, they're kicking off Destroyer with calm.
