Premiere: Cornershop, “The Roll Off Characteristics (Solo RMX)” MP3

April 13, 2010

The original of this track, off Cornershop's latest album Judy Sucks A Lemon For Breakfast is more of a political playground jam, with a '60s style loping rhythm section and Sgt. Pepper horns. Solo's reimagination of it mostly strips out the brass for neon-lit synth funk, letting the sitar flourishes hover over the bassline like a UFO sent to eliminate war from planet Earth via extraterrestrial dance moves. The kicker: said UFO actually lifts off in the outro of this song, back to whatever sweaty galaxy it came from. Judy Sucks a Lemon—Cornershop's first album in seven years—is released in North America on April 20. You probably won't have any missing time/abduction experiences listening to it, though, so listen sans anxiety.
