Premiere Stream: Melé’s Bombay EP

May 11, 2010

Melé's the latest in a series of young production prodigies to emerge from the UK—just 18 with five years of beatmaking under his belt, he's already been touted by Toddla T on 1xtra and signed to Sinden's label, recognized for his off-kilter synths and subtle layering, clearly well versed in the past and future of UK garage and its bass-y offspring. On the Bombay EP, out today on Mixpak, he piles dub samples on club aspirations, spacing out when the low-end seems too ominous, and balances a little humor with a sense of seriousness. The remixes are amazing, too, taking the tracks to places we never imagined they'd be at birth. Grab the Bombay EP at various internet outposts.
