Video: King Charles, “We Didn’t Start the Fire (King Charles 2010 Version)”

May 18, 2010

About a week ago, we got an email that said that bizarre-haired Brit King Charles had won the grand prize at the International Songwriters Competition. Which is weird. But congratulations! We also got a note urging us to check out his semi-cover of Billy Joel's super classic song "We Didn't Start the Fire." While KC certainly snags the instrumental and the rhythm, he changes the lyrics to reflect a more modern version of the political degeneration and pop culture mess Joel was singing about back in 1989. King Charles' version references the closing of Guantanamo Bay and Tom Cruise's sexual orientation. Billy Joel was stuck on Marilyn Monroe. Times have changed but the fire still burns, etc.
