Riz MC, “Hundreds and Thousands (Baobinga’s Jit-Step RMX)” MP3

May 27, 2010

Riz MC (aka Riz Ahmed, noted British film and television star) has built a reputation for his unabashed political raps, and with "Hundreds and Thousands" he's transitioned from his "Post-911 Blues" to talking about being screwed over by the economy, among other depressingly timely notions of class disparity. Sigh. Baobinga maybe didn't want to think about it, because for his twitty "jit-step" remix, he wiped the track mostly clean of vocals and injected a juke-invoking beat beneath it. Obsesso genre-googlers, don't freak out on jit-step quite yet—it's a term Baobinga coined himself and he has yet to reveal what exactly it connotes, other than ramped-up speed and a lovely bit of syncopation.
