Video Premiere: Bomba Estereo, “Aguasala”

You may recognize the handsome Colombians of Bomba Estereo from such recent FADER exploits as the Levi’s® FADER Fort in Austin, Texas, where they wowed the crowd and then sat in our trailer for a little interview. If you find lead vocalist Li Saumet as adorable as we do, then the new video for “Aguasala” will have you in full fawning mode. Think of it as a “Wicked Game” for bassheads, only Chris Isaacs isn’t getting his bigass pompadour in the way. You can find “Aguasala” among other humid dub jams on Bomba Estereo’s 2009 album Blow Up. On another note, Bomba bassist/producer Simon Mejia was also recently named a finalist (along with FADER friend Jace Clayton) in the Rolex Protégé Arts Initiative to study under Brian Eno. And if that’s not enough for you, make sure to check Bomba Estereo out when they headline a US tour this summer. Dates after the jump.

The energy of Fuego caught my attention but Caminito, Pa’Respirar (on you tube) and AguaSala are my favorites. I love Li Saumet’s diverse voice and Mejia is a brilliant musician. His videos also caught my attention: Caminito, and Corrinto.
