Baltimore club’s propensity for sampling classic tracks (Motown, “Mr. Postman” et al) translates really well to the Gorillaz lullaby melody of “Melancholy Hill,” LaCrate keeping the beat shimmy subtle (if that is possible) and letting its calliope keyboards imbue it with oomph. It’s unexpectedly sweet, a dance remix that focuses less on the propulsion of the club boom and more on preserving the prettiness of the harmonies, and the rare Bmore track you could, say, play for your 8-year-old cousin without worrying she will develop an early preoccupation with boning. Good times!
Stream: Gorillaz, “Melancholy Hill (Aaron LaCrate RMX)”

On Melancholy Hill is the best song on the album!! Unfortunately that remix is like someone wiping their bum with the mona lisa. They’ve taken out all the good bits and replaced them with what sounds like the soundtrack to pokemon yellow.
I quite like it…
Yee…I listen to techno and trance and house and all that other waffle, and at this point I have to say this song is bloody annoying. Melancholy hill is a BEAUTIFUL piece of music. I’ve always fancied it and with music like this coming out to promote it, i’m disappointed honestly.
fuck aaron laFAKE. of all the dudes doing club music…they pick this guy. gtfoh
gorillaz and lacrate that ur talkin about some real muthaf#%^&kin geez up FADER for this big bmore basssss mix
actually best remix ive heard of this song. still not very good compared to the original tho
awful ! i agree with hater nation … of all the brilliant dance producers out there, wtf are they doing putting this out? where’s the quality control here guys? Im not bullshitting, i could have done much better myself… and so could loads of other people i know. i dont geddit !!!
… what’s more… i’ve noticed this with a lot of the gorillaz remix packages… bar the spacemonkeyz, (which was stunning and took the gorillaz to another level) i’m pressed to think of one decent remix. mmmhh. I hereby volunteer myself to have a crack at remixing the next gorillaz release. no shit !
