We were taken by volume one of Crumbs' stuttering, otherworldly beat masterpiece Pieces & Portions. But volume two just surpassed its predecessor solely based on "Altered States of Beast," a robotic dream-pop song that samples the great MOP's "Ante Up" and fulfills a burning desire we didn't even know we had. The solo production project of Victoria, Australia's Max Kohane, Crumbs would definitely overlap with Dilla, Flying Lotus, Gaslamp Killer et cetera in the Venn Diagram, but like those artists, he's not shy about straying out of bounds, testing different concepts, letting sounds and rhythms clash and dabbling in crazy beauty. Unlike those artists, he is also in a grindcore band called AGENTS OF ABHORRENCE. Man of our own hearts!
