Premiere: Javelin, “Intervales Theme (Steinski RMX)” MP3

July 30, 2010

The original "Intervales Theme" was already ripe for a hip-hop remix—what producer in their right mind wouldn't want to futz around with the swing and funk of that guitar line? They were waxing poetic up in that piece, sounds like a '70s sample a crate digger would die to find. Enter Steinski, classic master sampler and innovator of early '80s hip-hop—he gave it an even dustier patina and overlaid it with his signature vocal samples, making it sound like he and Javelin are hanging out in a French cafe with Jane Birkin and/or kicking it an airport in 1967, when airports still felt glamorous. But in reality Javelin won't actually be doing that, as they'll be too busy on tour with Warpaint and Beach Fossils and Lollapalooza, tour dates here.
