Premiere: Wyatt, Atzmon, Stephen, “Laura” MP3

September 28, 2010

Soft Machiner Robert Wyatt gone (more) classical. His trio of him, Gilad Atzmon (best name) and Ros Stephen, recorded with a string quartet, a telephone for practice, light reeds, lemon cake/John Coltrane spirits. "Laura," a Cole Porter lullaby (not literally) is from the resulting album, For the Ghosts Within, out soon on Domino. It sounds like Afghan rugs and heirloom tomatoes, the kind of thing Tom Ford listens to while crying about the birth of his sister's third child, a bright and healthy boy. Hallelujah for miracles and all of their corresponding gentle tones.
