Gypsy & The Cat are teasing out the early 2011 release of their debut album with their new single, “The Piper’s Song,” a catchy bit of soundtrack rock that you’ll likely hear plenty of soon enough. Of more interest is the track backing the single, a remix of the song by Belgian duo-cum-one-man-show Aeroplane. Vito De Luca recognizes the intended pleasure centers throughout the original and juices them with bells, synths and drum machines. He does away with any unwieldy earnestness and lets the song’s strengths shine; it’s a little goofy, but mostly in a way that’s got us looking forward to wherever Aeroplane is going now that he’s in charge.
