We're never going to stop liking Lia Ices, the same way we're never going to stop liking finding stuff in the woods or digging holes to put that stuff in. Here's "Daphne" from her forthcoming debut, Grown Unknown on Jagjaguwar, it's really two songs in one. The first is all plucking and strings, it's delicate and a little sad. We're nodding along, we find some stuff and a good place to put it and we're digging our hole. Then at 2:45 something switches over, song #2! It's a sinkhole instead and we're sucked right through. The band shows up, drums splay and the guitar goes electric. Lia Ices finds a dude counterpart that just happens to be Justin Vernon, crooning alongside her and wailing on. Wait, maybe we started in the hole? We didn't fall in, we got spit out?
