Touring Jas M.B.’s London Factory

November 16, 2010

We got lucky last week, peeping an inside look of Jas M.B.’s bag factory in East London. Our tour was guided by founder of the company, Jas Sehmbi, who took us through a building filled with more piles of bags than any girl could dream of, all smelling of freshly cut Italian leather. It’s a miracle that our bank accounts weren’t flushed by the time we left the building. Sehmbi pointed out bags carried by Bon Jovi and told about his creative journey from the very beginning (at eight years old), to his first successful line of DJ bags in 1993, to his position today as an internationally respected designer. Jas has collaborated with a range of stores, like Lift in Tokyo, and we made sure to snag one of the coveted leather backpacks from this collection. All Jas M.B. bags are handmade in England and we were able to witness their construction first hand. There was a pile of bags to the left of us on its way to Barneys and a pile to the right on its way to Browns. Check out more images of our tour after the jump.
