Video: Gala Drop, “Drop”

November 22, 2010

Visual and performance artist Antonio Contador worked together found-footage to make this video for "Drop", a babble lush track from the 12" EP Portugal's Gala Drop just released on Golf Channel Recordings. Its ocean scenes and slow ramble basslines are cloudless and gusty. Seems like the kind of roving psychoactive tune that would stay up late with a banquet table full of attractive Latin American diaspora sociologist/anthropologist types. As in, the song for the point in the night when you're looking at the wall because it's become obvious that some dude is to be ignored since he's not letting anyone finish sentences even though he's whiskey dull and not articulating the points of his dissertation very convincingly. At this point you're zoned, but not unhappily. Everyone's got wine-purple bottom lips and the tilapia was delicious and it's cool to forgive. We don't really get to go to these kinds of parties very often but we've seen a lot of movies.
