Aaron Rose’s iPhone Movie is a Heartbreaker

December 01, 2010

Aaron Rose, the grand don, definitive dude of Beautiful Losers/ ANP Quarterly /Alleged Gallery made three short iPhone vids for Incase. The last one is called Vagabondage: it’s Aaron on the road, Paris-Berlin-Prague, moving between crews of beautiful and famous friends and reciting “If You Go Away,” that old song, the sad one. Jacques Brel invented it, Dusty Springfield did it, Frank Sinatra, Cyndi Lauper… The song's not the point but honestly Rose's version is kinda crazy, delayed piano folding into glitched out ferris wheel organ, his voice chilling on top. It's so good and the future's so scary. The song says, "you must tell the world to stop turning". But who knows, we're sensitive to a lot of iPhone videos these days.
