Japanese people love when non-Japanese people sing enka, a genre of super soft ballad music. First came Jero, the Philadelphian who won their hearts and now occasional Sonic Youth member and all around curious musician Jim O'Rourke is taking a stab. Not that we are enka experts by any means, but this doesn't look like it worked. O'Rourke moved to Japan not too long ago, where he worked on some of the music from Joanna Newsom's most recent album. Maybe she'll visit and he'll get her to try enka. Whatever happens, great corduroy blazer.
