We wrote about The Strokes when they were on the verge of being “almost famous” in 2001, put them on their very first magazine cover. Ten years, a hiatus and Gossip Girl appearance later, the quintessential NYC band of the last decade is back, and they’re playing a free show at SXSW’s Auditorium Shores Stage (at Lady Bird Lake) on Thursday, March 17th. The Levi’s-sponsored show will be free and open to the public.

The show should be fun and a great opportunity to wax nostalgic about FADERS past. But we’re also psyched for the present. See you in Texas! See the boys many-years younger, after the jump!
