Brenmar, “Be The One” MP3

April 06, 2011

Feel like Brenmar just grows and grows, his soul expanding its radius and gravitational pull with every track. He seems open and ready and easy, unencumbered by other people's taste, only what sounds smooth to him. This song is simple, the bare necessities of Brenmar's style, a stuttered repetition of "Never Leave Me Lonely" from a Shai track that feels legit and young and ridiculous, like you might have met someone once when you're dancing but hope they never go away. All the breakdowns and mumbling production only there to highlight that vocal. The thing that's so likable about Brenmar is that his music is always expressive and never cynical, the dude wants people to fall in love to this, hurt their hearts, make babies, maybe he even wants to fall in love while listening to his own song. That's the closest bar-none definition to soul we can think of.
