David Comes to Life, Fucked Up’s rock opera is super dense and about 78 minutes long. Listening to “Queen of Hearts” on its own, while satisfying, is the same as coming into a movie halfway through. That said, the track is a great distillation of Fucked Up’s current trip into the world of Music With Harsh Vocals That Inexplicably Sounds Like Bruce Springsteen. They also may have been influenced by The Boss’ “Roulette,” which somehow manages to cram an hour’s worth of concept into just three-and-a-half minutes.
