Chill out dudes, this isn’t new. Instead it’s been liberated from a 2002 promo-only record that sounds like it had some dust caked into the grooves. Whatever the case, in our memories ’02 was a flush year—filled with extravagant parties and chill times and The Strokes and…yachts? Okay, no yachts. We were just looking at some pictures of yachts, though. It’s how we spend most of our days: blogging and yachts. Maybe we’re getting that vibe because of the way Stereolab flips the pure, pre-recession exuberance of the original into a classy, but no less busy, spiritual ode to luxury. Stream that below, and then get stoked because it’s been about ten years since the release of The Avalanches’ Since I Left You, which somehow did not break 65,000,000 sample laws when it initially came out. That means the record is getting the deluxe reissue treatment with a bonus disc full of remixes from MF Doom, El Guincho, Canyons, Jackson and his Computer Band, and—why not?—something that will probably end up being really weird from Black Dice. Stay tuned to the Modular Facebook for more info.
