Over the weekend, Kanye West made a surprise appearance at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival. Before performing a three song solo set, he joined scheduled headliner Q-Tip onstage to perform “Award Tour,” a song Q-Tip performed with A Tribe Called Quest. In 1993, when “Award Tour” was released, Kanye was a 16-year-old fan. Now both dudes are jacked, and still convincingly stoked about the record. At the outset, Q-Tip humps toward the crowd and turns the word “tour” into a scream that lasts no less than three seconds. They wind it back, huddle together and start over. Tip produces an even wilder carnal noise (:45), letting Kanye take the verse.
