Beyonce is Writing a Cookbook

July 28, 2011

British paper the Daily Mirror reports that Beyonce’s planning a family album style cookbook, to feature recipes inspired by her mother Tina's "collard greens, cornbread, mac ’n’ cheese and fried chicken" spreads. Such a book would mark something of a turn for B, long mum on her private life and a notoriously reluctant domestic. In an interview with Oprah, Beyonce said it was, "a shame" that she wasn't a better cook and called herself "the master of Hamburger Helper," before admitting she'd managed to prepare oxtail with rice and peas for her husband. The Mirror says Beyonce asked overachiever and recent Bon Apetit cover girl Gwyneth Paltrow—whose I'm just like you cookbook, My Father's Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family and Togetherness was published in April—for project planning advice. Beyonce follows business partner Jay-Z into the publishing business. Sales of his 2010 faux-autobiography Decoded (ghostwritten by Dream Hampton) bolstered his substantial fortune. Would you buy a gumbo guide of 15-minute meals and Tina Knowles jambalaya?
