James Blake and Bon Iver: The Collaboration That Caused an Earthquake the Day Before Anyone Even Heard It

August 24, 2011

Kind of a no brainer, right? Both Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) and James Blake have made pretty solid careers out of making some of the most morose, internal music around. They also both happen to have the ability to make their individual voices sound like multiple voices at once. They're both sad, too, not like sadsack sad, but weight-of-the-world sad. They're bummed on the way things are and were and might continue to be, and they are going to let us know through their music. Also they've both been on the cover of our magazine. Here they collaborate on a track called "Fall Creek Boys Choir," which is produced by Blake and sung by Vernon. Two sides of the same coin, except somehow half that coin is made out of computers and the other half is made out of the forest.
