PJ Harvey Wins 2011 Mercury Prize

September 07, 2011

PJ Harvey nabbed this year's Mercury Prize for her album, Let England Shake, beating out some stiff competition from the likes of Adele, Katy B and James Blake, among others, to become the first artist to win the honor twice (the first was in 2001 for her Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea). Wearing a bespoke, white floor-length gown with just a few plumes sprouting from crown, Harvey accepted the award, saying that she'd hoped to create "something of meaning, not just for myself but for other people."
