There is something almost scientifically syncopated about Oneohtrix Point Never’s “Sleep Dealer.” The repetitive bleeps and breathy swooshes lull you into a hypnotic stupor, kind of like Dan Lopatin is administering aural Ambien. Which maybe isn’t that far off? His forthcoming LP, Replica is an electronic song cycle based around lo-fi audio snippets from television advertisement compilations. This one must be for sleep/anxiety disorders. Replica is out November 8th on Software.
