Renaissance Man’s FADER Mix MP3

November 08, 2011

More than a year ago, Helsinki duo Renaissance Man said they'd kill, "to make real life as exciting as Second Life." True to this mission, their FADER Mix is a terrific smoothie of real and virtual worlds (relying heavily on songs from Detroit and Chicago), like an avatar's game hacked with real, wet fog. Renaissance Man call this "post-tropical techno," an apt description for their recent single "What Do You Do When You Do What You Do," a chilly steel-pan conga led by a humorless, baritone chant. Here, that's mixed straight into Erik Travis' "Turn It Up," a stripped, motor city party tune that laments rising gas prices. Listen to Renaissance Man's vigorous and cerebral new album here, or pay them an IRL visit in London. They play at XOYO with Boy 8 Bit and Matt Walsh on November 19th.
