Every week a different FADER staff member will pick a clothing item or accessory that he or she has lately been spending a lot of time with—or would like to—and write a little love letter to it. We would’ve done a column on who we’re dating but that seemed a little bit much. This week Sarah Riazati talks about her Salvador Dali watch.

When I was in elementary school, I had to do a presentation on Salvador Dali's life and work. I decided to dress up for the occasion, so I assembled a costume from my dress-up box and got my mom to draw a handlebar mustache on me with her eyeliner. My presentation kicked ass, so I kept the mustache on for the rest of the day to celebrate. Also, I just liked wearing a mustache.

That's probably why I've always felt this connection to Dali, and in particular, his mustache. Let me tell you about another obsession: fab.com. On the surface, it's just another daily sale site featuring things you probably can't afford. But if you sift through all the fancy stuff, you can find more moderately-priced gems. Like this watch. Or a disappearing Cheshire cat coffee mug. Or purple and gold headphones. Or a Brooklyn skyline print. At least, that's what I've gotten so far, and I've only been on this thing for like three weeks.

But back to my new wrist candy. The two branches of Dali's mustache form the minute and hour hands. The second hand is an ant. Sometimes when I glance down at my wrist, I get scared and think it's a real bug. On the back, the engraving says: "For best results use other side." These are some reasons why I love this watch. But mostly I love it because it's the closest I'll get as an adult to wearing a fake mustache all day. Happy Movember people.
