The Mekanix are a longstanding Bay Area production duo, primarily known for their work with J. Stalin’s Livewire label. A few of their beats were 2010′s best. “The Chop Shop,” which feels like a low-rider mob music remix of “Seven Minutes of Funk,” has the bass-heavy knock of a lost ’90s West Coast classic. Stalin has an affect-less, earnest rap style, and mentions getting laid in a Target parking lot. He’s joined by Yukmouth of the Luniz, Laroo and a team of assistant mechanics who were evidently in such a hurry to flip cars that they forgot to get dressed. (via Southern Hospitality)

I like Laroo’s shirt, but I don’t like that girl on the table talking in the place of a chorus.
