The debut, self-titled EP from Portland singer/songwriter Laurel Simmons' MayMay project comes out today, though the songs were recorded four years ago, in 2008. "All Is Still" features cello accompaniment by Heather Woods Broderick, of Efterklang and, with Simmons, formerly of Loch Lomond. Simmons' music is the type of folk to make your heart feel tiny, with her voice heartbreaking even when she's happy. "All Is Still" is delicate in the process of being crushed, recorded in a single take with birds in the background, gliding in on a breeze and leaving soon on another.
