Earl Sweatshirt, the enigmatic member of Odd Future who recently returned to the States after attending a boarding school in Samoa, has signed a deal with Sony-owned Columbia Records, who will distribute records for his own imprint, Tan Cressida, The New York Times reports. Earl took a loss on the deal, turning down other offers for more money so he could be under the Sony branch with the rest of Odd Future, whose Odd Future Records imprint is distributed by Sony’s RED, and not be precluded from using their logo on his albums. In the Times feature, he discussed projects he’s interested in pursuing with this new deal, citing a solo full-length, a collaborative album with fellow OF member and producer, Matt Martians and a joint album with best friend Tyler, the Creator under the name EarlWolf.
