Stream: Heavenly Beat, “Tradition”

I wore jean shorts to work for the first time today, the fitting garb for listening to Beach Fossils bassist John Pena’s solo project, Heavenly Beat. “Tradition” is the second single from his debut LP, following last month’s beachy-strings gem “Messiah,” and it follows a similar trajectory of shake-off-the-nerves pop, its acoustic guitar melody gently rolling like a little strawberry floating in your drink. Talent comes out July 24th via Captured Tracks.

Look, I love this stuff….almost all of the Captured Tracks roster in fact, but doesn’t anyone else notice just how much everything Heavenly Beat has released sounds likeThe Embassy songs? Listen to The Embassy songs from either “futile crimes” or “Tacking” and its just obvious.
