Flying Lotus Releases Short Film in Advance of New LP

September 06, 2012

Viral album trailers seem to be becoming increasingly popular, but why not go the extra mile and actually shoot a short film? Brainfeeder founder and LA beat scene leader Flying Lotus has a record coming out on Warp on October 2nd, and to celebrate, he's commissioned director Kahlil Joseph to make a short film by the same name. Clocking in at just under four minutes, Until The Quiet Comes is a sumptuously photographed tale of street dancing, guns, and coming of age that's as disturbing as it is full of improbable dream-logic. It also brings together snippets from the album, so listen for cameos by Erykah Badu (on the fast and skittering "See Thru To U") and Niki Randa (on the slow and lurching "Hunger" and "Getting There").
