Whatever you might think of David Longstreth’s megalomaniacal tendencies, you can't argue with the man's ambition. Here, he's made a gesamtkunstwerk out of Dirty Projectors’ recent LP Swing Lo Magellan in a new short film titled Hi Custodian—writing, direction and scoring all clearly attributed—and it's pretty successful. With production help from Pitchfork and Bobby Bukowski's elegant photo direction, Swing Lo Magellan has been chopped and sequenced to screwy, surrealistic vignettes that would make Peter Greenaway grin.
