Last Friday Jay-Z opened Brooklyn’s brand new Barclays Center, of which he has a very minor ownership stake, and since then he’s taken up residency at the arena. The final of his eight performances there is tomorrow, October 6h, and today he announced the show will be streamed live on YouTube, marking the launch yet another new venture, a Life+Times YouTube channel. After Saturday’s show, the channel will feature original content, such as a series of mini-documentaries about the Nets called The Road to Brooklyn, a “fan-interaction show” called Roc Nation Check-In and a series documenting British supermodel Jourdan Dunnl, Well Dunn with Jourdan Dunn. “We’re approaching this channel and programming it, not at the level of an MTV or a BET – at least, not yet – but really programming it as a real channel that will have regular content, some featuring [Jay-Z], some under his creative direction,” says IconicTV co-founder Michael Hirschorn, whose company will partner with Jay to create content for the channel.
Tomorrow night’s stream begins at 9:30 PM EST. Watch a teaser for the event, with footage from previous Barclays shows, below.
