Stream: Meek Mill, “Intro”

October 22, 2012

On "Intro," a prelude that won't be featured on Meek Mill’s forthcoming debut album, the Philly kid turned Maybach millionaire draws a line in the sand between new wealth and past turmoil, then stomps across it, incapable of containing his whole self on either side. The song's piano-driven first half progresses introspectively, a sort of "Wow, look how far we made it" verse before, addressing some imaginary disbeliever, Meek raps Gangsters move in silence, and I don't talk a lot/ I don't say a word, I don't say a word… Just as he's reminded himself to be a badass, he shouts Hold up wait a minute!, the bass drum kicks in and it's retribution yells from there on out. Dreams and Nightmares comes out October 30th via Maybach Music Group.
